Committee on Ministry

The Committee on Ministry (COM) supports National Capital Presbytery’s (NCP) responsibilities for the care, oversight, and accountability for teaching elders and educators.

Commission on Preparation of Ministry

The Commission on Preparation for Ministry (CPM) serves Christ and the Church by aiding members of a congregation within NCP considering a call to become a teaching elder in their faithful discernment of a call to serve God.  In particular, CPM provides pastoral support, objective guidance and even critical evaluation for members considering a call in the PC(USA), especially when the call process is challenging or complex.

Dismantling Racism

Our mission as members of the church of the Triune God is to be agents of salvation, justice, and reconciliation. Providing training workshops and educational resources are an opportunity and a means for our body to turn away from the sin of racism, to act as faithful disciples of Christ in ministering and caring for the marginalized in our world, and to witness God’s love for all creation. We humbly undertake this work, trusting that God’s Holy Spirit will be our guide and inspiration.

NCP coordinates with Presbytery of Baltimore in providing regional gatherings for education and relationship building in the areas of racial care and repair. Look for more information coming on Matthew25 Mid-Atlantic Summit, Fall of 2026.

Property

Congregations face many opportunities as well as challenges when it comes to property. Property can be a vital tool for ministry but, increasingly, the financial burden of its upkeep can challenge a congregation’s vitality.

If your church is considering renting space to tenants, installing solar panels, obtaining a loan, planning a remodeling project, relocating, redevelopment, selling non worship property, cell tower leases, etc., National Capital Presbytery will likely need to be involved in the transaction in some way.

In National Capital Presbytery, the Administrative Commission on Congregational Property (ACCP) supports and reviews matters relating to congregational property. They are resourced by Heather Deacon, Senior Director of Finance & Operations.
