Come and discuss the role of the Church today and how it relates to National Capital Presbytery.

* All minister members are asked to vest with red stoles. Others are invited to wear RED in thanksgiving for the Holy Spirit, who equips and calls leaders for the church. Clergy will meet in the “Library” at 2:45 p.m., to assemble for the processional.

Why are we doing this? Guest guide: John Molina-Moore, General Presbyter of the National Capital Presbytery.

The answer must always be Jesus. The “why”– our motivation — drives what is formed or not formed. This event will help your team see that our work must be something greater than survival or financial relief. We will explore together the concept that, while we should avoid ruin, we must embrace risk.

The time has come for the annual review of session records! The Book of Order requires councils of the church to “review… the proceedings and actions of … lower councils within its jurisdiction… [determining] whether the proceedings have been correctly recorded, have been in accordance with this Constitution, have been prudent and equitable, and have been faithful to the mission of the whole church” (G-3.0108a).

In National Capital Presbytery, the Committee on Session Records organizes a number of meetings where clerks of session gather to review one another’s minutes, with the Committee’s guidance. The Committee then makes recommendations to the presbytery regarding the approval of these minutes. In this way, the review process becomes an opportunity for learning and fellowship.

NCP will be hosting a Presbytery-wide Youth Gathering on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church. Open to 8th – 12th graders with NCP staff, Rev. John Molina-Moore and Rev. Tara Spuhler McCabe. Let our youth see one another and play an epic Scavenger Hunt. Engage as a presbytery in Rise Against Hunger. Share some sacred time on being faith-centered youth. AND eat pizza together!
