Heritage Presbyterian Church seeks a Solo Pastor whose passionate love for Jesus and His church will continue the vibrancy, vision, and creativity of Heritage as it seeks to fulfill God’s will. We are located in the historic Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County, Virginia, once a part of George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate. At last count Heritage had 178 members. We are seeking a pastor whose insightful, Bible-based sermons will refresh our spirits, strengthen our beliefs and encourage our daily witness. Working with Session, we seek a  pastor whose strategic vision, energy, and humor will help us build up existing programs and collaboratively generate creative new ideas to invite people to join and actively engage with our faith community. At the same time, our pastor should work with the congregational Care Team to address the pastoral needs of a multi-generational congregation through home, school, and hospital visits. Our pastor should enjoy caring for a congregation that is relatively well educated; includes members with business, government and military backgrounds; is  involved in public issues; and represents diverse political positions. We seek a pastor who is theologically sound and comfortable with the theology of the Reformed tradition. Our pastor should be able to communicate using whatever means are comfortable, from a phone call or personal visit, to an email, a Facebook message or a tweet. The salary is negotiable within National Capital Presbytery guidelines. Our manse is available as a housing option.
