Evening Service Musician

Click here to learn more about our vibrant church community. Immanuel is presently seeking an Evening Service Musician (ESM) to lead our once-a-month Sunday evening (5:30pm) service.

The Evening Service Musician (ESM) will, in conjunction with the senior pastor and music director, help in the selection of music to be performed by; and also act as the leader of, the evening service band for Immanuel’s monthly evening worship service.  The ESM will work with volunteers and staff to rehearse and perform the music and provide a welcoming and positive atmosphere in the worship service and rehearsals. Part time:
15 hours per month at $30/hour

Essential Functions

  • Lead musical worship for Immanuel’s evening service (with volunteer band members, church members and staff)
  • Coordinate with Senior Pastor and Music Director to choose appropriate music
  • Coordinate with volunteer musicians for two weekday evening rehearsals per month and rehearsal the day of the service
  • Collaborate with musicians to select and then arrange a wide variety of music appropriate for non-traditional worship
  • Prepare as necessary, chord/lyric sheets in PDF form for use with forScore
  • Lead setup and teardown of musical and PA equipment for the worship service and rehearsals
  • Use strong lead vocal skills in helping the gathered community worship 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Meet regularly with Senior Pastor and Music Director
  • Evaluate and bring forth suggestions to improve the service on an ongoing basis

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Musical training, with a background in a variety of musical styles in the Christian tradition
  • Ability to effectively play an instrument in worship leadership (ideally guitar or piano)
  • Ability to effectively lead a musical ensemble in rehearsal and worship
  • Strong singing voice
  • Familiarity with Contemporary Christian music

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to move freely in and out of different group settings (church, homes, etc.)
  • Ability to move equipment for set up and breakdown.
