How to Obtain a Group Inclusion Letter
In June 2026, the Presbyterian Church (USA) launched a site where congregations can generate their own group inclusion letter. That letter proves the church’s 501(c)(3) status under the denomination’s IRS group exemption.

To get started:
- Visit the PCUSA's Group Ruling website
- Select Congregation/Church
- Enter EIN or PIN
- Verify Church and Contact Information
The site also offers to list the church on the IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File, which makes proving exeption easier in the future.
If the site doesn't accept the EIN, it may not match what the PC(USA) has on file. In this case, contact the presbytery's stated clerk.
