Stated Supply Pastor
Rockville Presbyterian Church seeks a part-time (25-30 hrs/week) interim minister of discernment to help guide this small but resilient congregation through several pivotal changes. Our pastor is retiring due to medical challenges and Church leaders are managing the sale of our campus and possible relocation to a smaller site. Candidates must be skilled in facilitating decision-making with a motivated group of leaders and a supportive congregation. Candidates are encouraged to inquire for terms of call as short as six months or a few years as we manage these transitions and consider new areas of growth and strategic planning. We seek someone skilled in organizational development and communications strategies as well as staff oversight. Our congregation, located on West Montgomery Avenue in Rockville, Maryland, gets regular walk-in visitors. Rockville Presbyterian Church is a small, committed congregation that is excited to try new things, reach new people, and follow in the way of Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities
Worship: Prepare worship for a diverse, intergenerational congregation, including weekly children’s message, preaching, and administer sacraments.
Pastoral Care: Coordinate with the Board of Deacons visits to sick, bereaved or homebound members, or others with special needs. Officiate at weddings and funerals.
Leadership and Supervision: Moderate Session, convene weekly staff meetings, and represent the church in the Presbytery. At the end of 2026, the Session will reorganize to a smaller group, and we require a skilled minister to aid in this and other transitions.
Spiritual Development: Encourage spiritual growth, stewardship, and active participation beyond worship; lead the Session in a discernment process around the needs of our community; lead prospective member classes and other small groups.
Qualifications: Experience in leadership management and ordained clergy in the PC(USA)
Compensation: Effective salary commensurate with experience. Additional compensation and benefits per provisions of the NCP Stated Supply Contract template.
