Quarter-Time Stated Supply Pastor
Position Summary: With our senior pastor of twenty-five years retiring in September, we are seeking a compassionate and spiritually grounded Quarter-Time Stated Supply Pastor to work alongside our Associate Pastor/Acting Head of Staff during the pastor search process, for an initial period of three months, with the possibility of extending for an additional three-month period or periods. The Stated Supply Pastor will help to lead our congregation in worship, assist with pastoral care, and provide staff support for some congregational ministries.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. once a month, including preaching, writing liturgy, and selecting hymns
- Assisting with other Sunday morning worship services as needed
- Officiating weddings, funerals, and special services as needed
- Assisting with pastoral care and visitation for members in need (hospital, homebound, or counseling) and with making new members and visitors feel welcome and connected
- Supporting the Christian Formation, Member Connections, and Mission Outreach Ministries with periodic check-ins and/or Zoom meetings
- Supporting the Deacon Ministry
Qualifications:
- Ordained pastor (or eligible for ordination) within a recognized Christian denomination; Commissioned Ruling Elders are also encouraged to apply if they are willing to perform all of the responsibilities listed above.
- Strong preaching, pastoral care, and collaborative skills
- A heart for serving with empathy and encouragement a congregation facing a big transition
- Commitment to fostering spiritual growth and community engagement
Compensation: Quarter-time, with an expectation of an average ten hours a week; $55 hourly rate for ordained pastors, plus a $250 honorarium per Sunday preaching; compensation commensurate with experience for Commissioned Ruling Elders, with a minimum of $35 an hour, plus a $250 honorarium per Sunday preaching.
