Music Director
We, at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, co-create community though the arts as an expression of our faith.
You are a church musician grounded in tradition — at home at the organ and piano, able to lead full-voiced congregational singing and to shape music for every Sunday and the seasons of the church year, in close partnership with our pastor and our community of faith. You do this well, and you love it. But for you, the sanctuary is a starting point, not a boundary.
You believe the arts are meant to be shared, and that a congregation can be a home for creativity and service in its neighborhood. That’s what draws you to what we’re building: we host an Artist in Residence and share our space as a refugee-focused art therapy collective, and we want to do more — concerts that fill the room on a weeknight and welcome stringers as guests, community sings, collaborations with nearby schools and artists, a shared space where arts and hospitality meet. You can picture art coming alive across our community, with our church helping to spark it — and you have the initiative to help make it real.
You are above all, someone who draws people in — volunteers, artists, musicians, neighbors, young people — calling forth their gifts with patience and warmth. You would rather co-create with a community than perform for it. You collaborate easily, you keep your humor, and you are committed to growing in your craft.
If this sounds like you, we should talk. In return, we offer a congregation that genuinely wants this — a collaborative pastor, Session, and Worship Committee who will say yes to good ideas. We see this as a 15-hour-per-week position with a salary of $30,000. To begin a conversation, please send a letter of interest, resume, and samples of your work to jobs@johncalvinpres.org no later than November 11, 2026.
