Ministry Requirements
Worship Responsibilities

  • Administer sacraments (baptism, communion)
  • Preach regular Sunday and special services
  • Collaborate with music and staff to oversee all aspects of worship, including liturgy, music, prayer, and the overall flow and direction of the worship service
  • Create service scripts and select hymns in collaboration with the Director of Music and Communications
  • Maintain the annual preaching schedule, setting special events and deciding Christian holiday service details

Supervisory & Staffing

  • Supervise Associate Pastor(s), Business Manager, Director of Music and Communications, and Parish Associate 
  • Lead weekly staff meetings and conduct annual reviews
  • Develop the team, build rapport, approve continuing education, and provide strategic staffing vision to ensure the needs of the whole church are met

Pastoral Care

  • Support members in times of joy and concern

Session

  • Moderate Session meetings and serve as staff liaison to various committees and task force work; currently includes these committees: Worship & Evangelism, Stewardship, Administration & Personnel, Finance, Buildings & Grounds, Membership & Nominating, GPC250, Security and the Board of Trustees
  • Partner with Session to set vision, annual budgets, and priorities
  • Work with the Administration & Personnel Committee on staff performance and hiring
  • Support visioning for the marking of the 250th anniversary of GPC
