Head of Staff
Fairfax Presbyterian Church is an uncommon Christian community, embracing all people with God’s love and grace. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we at Fairfax Presbyterian:
- Worship God with honesty, joy, and imagination;
- Nurture our lives of faith in Christ;
- Extend hospitality and grace to all people;
- Serve a world in need; and
- Work for reconciliation among peoples of diverse perspectives.
With the pending retirement of our longtime Senior Pastor, we seek a Senior Pastor/Head of Staff to help us live out this mission as the church’s primary spiritual and organizational leader. The new pastor will lead worship, provide pastoral care, oversee congregational growth, inspire stewardship, supervise staff, and moderate Session.
Fairfax Presbyterian Church is a Matthew 25 congregation dedicated to the calling that has shaped it for more than 70 years, which is to be “A House of Prayer for All Peoples.” These words from Isaiah welcome each visitor from behind the pulpit in our unique sanctuary, where the pews face one another as a reminder that the mercy of Christ knows no borders or boundaries. We are committed to radical generosity and deep compassion: as part of worship, inside our Fairfax community, and in relation with the wider world, seeking to emulate the life of Jesus in a wide array of diverse and multi-generational ministries.
Fairfax Presbyterian’s mission and ministry is carried out by a dedicated staff and Session, along with active volunteers from a congregation ready to renew and redouble its energy and direction. The new pastor will serve alongside a talented associate pastor with demonstrated momentum in congregational growth and vitality, and who with the senior pastor will act as the core of a fresh church leadership team that has the support of an aligned and devoted congregation.
