AV Technician
Darnestown Presbyterian Church seeks an AV Technician for services.
Times: Two hours weekly, every Sunday from 10 am to 12 pm, occasional other events as needed with 1 month advance notice
Pay: $25/hour
Background: On Sunday mornings, the church service is from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The technician should arrive before and stay after doing tasks related to the service. There are also some evening events that will need coverage if the technician is available: Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, as well as daytime events like funerals. Each event is about one hour in length with 30 minutes before and after needed for setup and takedown. The service AV is controlled from the sanctuary balcony. The duties below will require some training on the operation of the system, but serve to illustrate the scope of effort during the service.
Example duties during the course of a service:
- Check microphone batteries in 4 wireless microphones and retrieve them from the pastor’s offices if necessary.
- Look through the bulletin to see if any non-standard microphone or camera setups are needed.
- Activate the on-campus live display.
- Lower the screen, change the light scene, turn on the projector, and start the slideshow of announcements at 10:15am. (may or may not do this)
- Start streaming at 10:25 am
- Raise screen and reset the light scene when the prelude starts. Usually, this is at 10:30. Change scene to the sanctuary.
- Switch microphones and camera views during the service as needed.
- End the stream after the postlude.
- Configure the next week’s YouTube link and set Restream to send to it.
- Swap the hearing assistance receivers between the deacon cabinet in the upper narthex and the charging bases upstairs in the balcony monthly.

- Windows 11 AV computer for running Open Broadcaster Software and X32 Edit software
- Behringer X32-Rack mixer
- Two PTZOptics Cameras
- Audio Technica System 10 wireless microphones
- Audio Technica wired condenser microphones for pulpit, lectern, choir
- Williams Sound FM+ Pro Hearing Assistance system
