SUMMARY:Preachers' Lab: Advent Edition
DESCRIPTION:Preachers’ Lab: Advent Edition with Brennan Breed\nTuesday\, September 22\, 2026\n12:00 PM – 3:00 PM\nNational Presbyterian Church\n4101 Nebraska Avenue NW\, Washington\, DC  20016\n(with lunch – suggested donation of $10 to offset costs) \nHow do we proclaim hope\, peace\, joy\, and love in a world that often feels cruel and cold?  Join fellow teaching elders for a Preachers’ Lab led by Dr. Brennan Breed\, Associate Professor of Old Testament at Princeton Theological Seminary and featured speaker at the March 2026 Continuing Education Gathering and Retreat. \nFor many generations\, Christians have identified the four Sundays of Advent with the words hope\, peace\, joy\, and love. Many Presbyterians have now incorporated seasonal liturgical practices like the lighting of Advent candles that focus on these themes. But after saying these words so many times––and hearing them repeatedly in advertising and political campaigns––is it possible to really hear them anymore? Drawing on biblical wisdom and practical experience\, Dr. Breed will remind us of the radical and liberating message of God’s grace that these words still name\, and we will discuss how to reclaim their authenticity and relevance as we preach with courage in today’s complex world. \nWhether you are preparing for Advent\, seeking renewed inspiration for your preaching ministry\, or looking for ways to speak hope into difficult circumstances\, this Preachers Lab offers a unique opportunity to learn alongside colleagues and engage with a gifted biblical scholar. \nCome ready to wrestle with the challenges of contemporary preaching and discover new ways to proclaim God’s message of hope\, peace\, joy\, and love. \n\nRegister here:\n\n\n \n \n Preachers' Lab: Advent Edition\n \n "*" indicates required fields \n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.Name*\n \n \n \n First Name\n \n \n \n \n Last Name\n \n \n Email*\n \n Church/Organization*Choose one...OtherAdelphiAldieArlingtonAshburnBealetonBerwynBethesdaBoydsBradley HillsBrambletonBrentsvilleBurkeBush HillCalvaryCapitol HillCatoctinChesterbrook TaiwaneseChevy ChaseChrist Presbyterian FairfaxChrist the KingChristian CommunityChurch of the CovenantClarendonCliftonColesvilleCovenantDarnestownEastminsterEbenezerEmmanuel Indonesian PresbyterianFairfaxFairlingtonFaithFalls ChurchFifteenth StreetFirst AnnandaleFirst ArlingtonFirst United Dale CityFurnace MountainGaithersburgGarden MemorialGenevaGeorgetownGood SamaritanGrace LanhamGrace SpringfieldGreenwichHeritageHermonHopeIdylwoodImmanuelJohn CalvinKirkwoodKnoxKorean of RockvilleLaurelLeesburgLewinsvilleLitchfieldLittle FallsManassasMizoMount VernonNationalNew HopeNew York AvenueNortheasternNorthern Virginia KoreanNorthminsterOaklandsOld Presbyterian Meeting HousePatuxentPilgrimsPoolesvillePotomacPrince George's CommunityProvidenceRedeemerRiversideRock (The)RockvilleRockville United ChurchSaint MarkSargent MemorialSilver SpringSixthSouthminsterSt. AndrewSt. MatthewTaiwanese of WashingtonTakoma ParkTrinity\, ArlingtonTrinity\, HerndonUnited KoreanUnited Christian Parish of RestonUnited Parish of BowieViennaWarner MemorialWesternWestminster\, AlexandriaWestminster\, DCWheatonLeadership Role*Serving a churchAt LargeSpecializedRetiredOtherYour ministry contextDo you have any food allergies?Lunch (Suggested $10 donation to offset costs.)\n \n \n $0\n \n \n \n $5\n \n \n \n $10\n Total\n \n Credit CardCard Details\n \n Cardholder Name\n \n \n Submit
