William “Bill” Plitt is Moderator, National Capital Presbytery; Ruling Elder, Trinity/Arlington, former NCP Chair of Mission Coordination Committee, and co-chair of the Middle East Concerns team for the Presbytery; Vice Moderator of the Israel/Palestine Mission Network (PCUSA).He has represented NCP at General Assembly as commissioner (2008) and (2016), and as an Overture Advocate for Scioto Valley Presbytery (2012).Bill is currently a trustee at Trinity where he served several terms on Session.After two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer as aclassroom teacher in Belize,CA, he followed a 40+year career in the classroom, in school administration and teacher preparationfocusing on meeting the educational needs of at risk students in urban schools.Currently, Bill is Executive Director/Co-Founder of Friends of Tent of Nations North America, advocating for a just peace for the people of Israel and the people living in its occupied territories.He travels frequently to the region, and travels throughout the U.S. to faith-based organizations, universities and local peace and justice communities teaching on the subject ofnon-violent resistance to injustice. He has published several articles on his experiences as a teacher, traveler and poet. He and his supportive and creative wife, Kay, have two married sons with children.He plays a blues harmonica in praise music at church and in a rock’n roll band.
