SUMMARY:Crooked Steeple Literary Festival: Ted Beal
DESCRIPTION:Crooked Steeple Literary Festival\nEdward M. Beal\, MD: War Stories from the Forgotten Soldiers\nSaturday\, November 14\, 2026 | 2:00 PM\nFalls Church Presbyterian Church | 225 E Broad St\, Falls Church\, VA 22046\n\nThis is the start to our fifth season of Crooked Steeple and we are so excited to welcome\, Ted Beal to our stage. He is a Psychiatrist who worked with soldiers on telehealth and was profoundly affected by the experience. He asked the men and women to tell them what they did in their service\, “how did you lose your leg”\, which was a profoundly different approach than to just give them a prescription.\n\nHe tells the stories and what he learned about how we all can be different in our approach to veterans. Saying\, “thank you for your service” is not enough.  I would love for you to personally join us this season so you will get a first-hand view of the community that we are gathering around these literary events.\n\nSee Flyer to Register.

SUMMARY:Faith Resurrected: An Immigrant Daughter's Reckoning with American Christianity
DESCRIPTION:Faith Resurrected: An Immigrant Daughter’s Reckoning with American Christianity\nSunday\, November 15\, 2026 | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM\nNational Presbyterian Church | 4101 Nebraska Avenue\, Washington\, DC  20016 \nOn November 15\, 2026\, the Reformed Institute of Metropolitan Washington is pleased to welcome Kristin T. Lee\, author of the memoir We Mend with Gold\, for a free presentation\, “Faith Resurrected: An Immigrant Daughter’s Reckoning with American Christianity.” \nThe in-person event will take place from 6:30 to 8 PM at the National Presbyterian Church\, 4101 Nebraska Avenue\, Washington\, DC 20016. Free parking is available in the church lot. \nKristin T. Lee is a writer whose work has appeared in Christianity Today and Sojourners\, and she is also a primary care physician serving Boston’s Chinatown community. \nIn We Mend with Gold\, Lee—a daughter of the Asian American church— wrestles with faith\, exile\, and belonging. Being a Christian has nothing to do with being Chinese American—that’s what Lee learned as a child. This opened a fissure between her identity and what she was told to believe. In the book she asks: What if we can bridge the divide? \nDrawing on Black\, Asian\, and other minoritized theologians\, Lee separates the theology of empire from what Jesus preached and lived. Writing of the fractures in our families\, churches\, and the world\, Lee relies on the Japanese art of kintsugi to describe the resplendence of a faith that repairs but doesn’t paper over. And she offers pieces of the Asian American experience—such as liminality\, displacement\, and exile—that attend to the breaking and the mending\, the wounding and the healing. How might marginality bring us closer to God and others? What do we lose when we “make it”? And when we expand our notion of who belongs to our family\, what do we gain? \n

SUMMARY:Missional Entrepreneurship Immersion
DESCRIPTION:Missional Entrepreneurship Immersion\nCultivating the Capacity for Faithful Innovation\nJanuary 27-29\, 2027\nRidgetop Coffee & Tea | Sterling\, VA \n\n\n\nTHE CHURCH IS ENTERING A NEW MISSIONARY MOMENT.\n\n\n\n\nMany of the assumptions that shaped ministry for generations no longer hold. Buildings sit underutilized while communities long for places of belonging. Financial models built for another era are becoming increasingly fragile. Programs that once drew people no longer connect in the same ways.  \nMany congregations recognize the need for change. Far fewer know how to get there.  \nLaunching a missional business or social enterprise isn’t primarily a question of strategy. It’s a question of imagination\, leadership\, and culture. Before a congregation can create something new\, it must learn to see differently\, steward differently\, and relate to its neighbors differently.  \nThat kind of transformation doesn’t magically happen during a brainstorming session. It requires leadership that can disrupt familiar patterns without destroying trust\, congregations willing to trust God into the possibilities\, and perseverance to move faithfully through uncertainty while bringing others along.  \nThat’s the conversation for this year’s Missional Entrepreneurship Immersion.  \nFor more information\, including what to expect and leaders/panelists\, click HERE.
